NOTES /// based on three cycles of a choral composition written and partially set to music by Thomas Böck and Lukas Klestil in 2019. The development of this work is deeply connected to an experimental approach that merges music, visual art, and sculptural elements. The starting point of the project was the idea of translating the choral composition into a specially developed system of notation and color, whose conceptual precision recalls the tonal variations of Hanne Darboven. This system forms the foundation of the installation works, giving them both their form and their specific coloration.
This work was created during a working grant from the State of Tyrol, which supported the realization of this interdisciplinary approach. The exploration of the relationship between sound, color, and form is a central theme in the artistic practice of Lukas Klestil, whose works often operate within the tension between music, sculpture, and installation.
Lukas Klestil studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and lives and works in Innsbruck and Vienna.
